Valley International Airport has been increases its passenger and cargo numbers and competing airports are taking notice. Valley International is is the leading airport in the Rio Grande Valley when it comes to air cargo, but it soon be leading in passengers as well.
Last year, Frontier Airlines began offering flights to Denver and Chicago, which gives the Harlingen airport six passenger carriers — Frontier, Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Sun Country Airlines and now American Airlines.
With American planning to enter the mix this month with three daily flights to and from Dallas, it seems likely Valley International will surpass McAllen Airport to become the busiest passenger hub in the Rio Grande Valley.
